Cookbook

The "cookbook" we mean here is the one created by this site. There were many cookbooks in the house in Rural Retreat, all of which were brought to Vivian's house in Chapel Hill, North Carolina when the house was closed. Some are now in the possession of Judy Gooding, Vivian's daughter. She is taking from them the recipes that were the most familiar to us and which appear in this story. She is also experimenting with recipes to be sure she gets them the way our mother remembers them.
